‘Lot of People’ Knew Patriots’ $25.5 Million Signee Was Damaged Goods: Insider

We first noticed something was wrong with the Patriots' top offensive signing of the offseason, Juju Smith-Schuster,

In late August, when Albert Breer appeared on NBC Sports Boston and told local NFL fans,

JuJu Smith-Schuster's knee is a mess, and that thing could explode at any point."

Smith-Schuster reacted angrily to Breer's suggestion, but after three weeks, it appears that Breer was correct—

Smith-Schuster has not returned to star form this season after having offseason knee surgery,

And while we can't say for sure, the knee remains the most plausible explanation.

Worse, Breer was asked about Smith-Schuster's knee again this week on Boston's 98.5 The Sports Hub, and he provided another nugget:

Not only was Smith-Schuster's knee a concern, but everyone knew it. Bill Belichick and the Pats'

mind trust were among them. Breer responded to former Patriots backup quarterback Scott Zolak's question regarding who notified him about Smith-Schuster's knee:

"A large number of people. Other teams were concerned that the knee would deteriorate rather than improve.
